Test before applying water or cleaning liquids Even if they claim to be waterproof, it is always safe to test a small corner of the wall with water or cleaning fluid to check. You could use soapy water or cleaning liquid to dab on the area. If you notice the colour running or getting absorbed, it isnt fit for a wash. You would rather have to use dry cleaning methods of using a dusting cloth once in a while to avoid the dust settling on it for long.
During my career, I have assisted many people design and install backsplashes with beautiful murals. Adding a colorful mural to your kitchen is similar to adding a painting a work of art to your home.
The next step would be to apply a good primer or sealer from a reputed brand. Make sure that the surface is not oily or shiny, or else the primer might not work. For such slippery walls, a special type of sealer might be needed, which might be purchased from a local paint and hardware store.
