How to place a mural above the stove. To make more wall space available to display the mural, the issue of the stove must be addressed. Using your joint compound, apply a thin application of joint compound to all of the seams. This will help to hide the seams once they are painted. Allow the compound to completely dry. After the joint compound has dried, using about a 120 grit sandpaper, sand the joints to where they are completely smooth.
Above the stove is an ideal place to feature a gorgeous mural. The area between the stove top and bottom of the vent hood usually is about 30 inches wide and 36 inches high. If a microwave is mounted below the cabinets, the space will be about 12 inches less to work with.
